Building Concepts Course Week 24- Convention Building Window Pans and Corner Boards

This week we shifted focus onto other shop projects, I was assigned the task of flashing windows. Before our windows could go in we had to create window pans using the product you see in the photos, Vycor by Grace. In this first photo you can see we cut out funky bow tie looking pieces of the Vycor. We stretched these pieces over the corners in order to adequately waterproof the corners before the whole pan sections in applied over the bow ties.

Here you can see how the pan goes up the vertical frame of the window about 5". Underneath that piece is our bow tie.

Finally we flashed the two vertical sides once, the window was caulked into place, running up the window and then put a piece across the top of the window. Remembering that we do not apply any flashing over the house wrap above the window. We peel the wrap back, flash the window and the sheathing, then fold the wrap back down over the flashing and tape our cuts. As seen in the photo on the left.
